Coaching Resources

Take a moment to imagine resources that would help your clients to retain more, implement more, and grow quicker… If you could wave a magic wand and solve any problem related to your coaching business and resources, what problem would you wish to solve? What types of resources do you imagine for your coaching business?

As a coach, you are an educator. You are teaching people how to solve a specific problem, and the best way to do that is via the support of efficient resources. You will want to support your clients varied learning styles with diversified resources that target specific learning or implementation objectives. This is not as scary as it sounds. and at the end, I'm even going to give you a list of the resources that I tend to use in my coaching, that way you can use them for yourself and see if they work for you! Let’s get started…

WHITEBOARD

  • I know this sounds kind of old-fashioned and maybe it is, but some of the most traditional resources can be some of the best ways to connect with your students. Virtual whiteboards in my opinion are going to be even better for your students because they allow everyone to interact at the same time! This takes your online coaching abilities to a whole new level while increasing your students’ hands-on learning opportunities.

You could have several different groups of students working in different areas all around the board! When you zoom out, voila! A group project. You can really learn how to make these systems work for you the more you play with them.  Be sure that you're ready to try new resources wherever you go and look up new whiteboard applications every six months or so to stay up to date.

CHATTING

  • Communication resources are often pretty underrated too. Students are going to enjoy chatting with one another more often than you think. Look at it this way; if your students want to interact, they need another way to interact which is a safe connection where not all personal details have to be shared.

Chatting resources also make it easy for you as an instructor to be able to communicate with your communities as quickly and efficiently as possible. One thing I will suggest is to try and find a resource that works best for you and your students. Don't go for what is the absolute best for one business or what is the new hype, go for what works for you and your students.

NOTE-TAKING

  • I always have to remind myself that everyone is going to have their own style of taking notes. I may not agree with how they take notes. However, I would probably give it a try because while I already know what works for me, there could always be a more efficient way.

One thing you have to keep in mind is that some of your students may not know their note-taking style yet. One thing that you can help them with, is providing different ways of taking notes. You can do this through note-taking systems like Google, Word Docs, Notability, Microsoft OneNote, Evernote, and more.

VIDEO

  • No coaching program is fully optimized without videos to engage visual learners. You will want to keep in mind that every learner is going to need all types of learning available to retain more of the learning.

The kind of video resources that you need is going to depend on your students. Each class is going to be different. Some students might need explanations of certain definitions. Others might need help understanding.  The goal is to be aware of how you can improve the learning experience for your students.

Brainstorm

I’ll say it again…NO TWO STUDENTS ARE ALIKE! The people that we meet have so many wonderful and beautiful stories that come with varying levels of knowledge and experience.  Because of this, I personally think it is wise to brainstorm what resources you might need.

Think through your coaching, and put yourself in your client’s shoes. I suggest looking for resources that are easier to learn than others so that your coaching remains the primary focus. These resources are just tools.
